STONY BROOK, N.Y., Nov. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Parenting experts Dr. Carl Arinoldo and wife Linda Arinoldo, M.S., have co-authored a recently released book, Essentials of Smart Parenting (Nova Science Publishing 2007), that eschews complex terminology for easily understood guidance, providing busy parents with helpful advice that hones parenting skills while reducing related stress.

"We've emphasized advice taking both the parents' and children's needs into account and made the book as conversational as possible," said Dr. Arinoldo. "I'm confident that implementing these simple principles can lead to better parenting and happier, healthier children." The longtime Long Island psychologist also extends some brief pointers, 'Five Quick Tips for Improved Parenting,' that sum-up some of the advice book's main principles:

You'll need a box of tissues to watch 'Charlie and Me'

The Hallmark Channel, which continues to churn out more new TV movies than just about anybody, has another one tonight that's a love story with an expiration date.

"Charlie and Me" at 9 p.m. has Tom Bosley's name on the marquee, but the movie belongs as much to newcomer Jordy Benattar as it does to the former father on "Happy Days."

Bosley plays 77-year-old Charlie Baker, who lives with his son and 12-year-old granddaughter, Casey. Her mom died in a car crash when she was only 4. Her father doesn't seem to know how to be a mom, or a dad for that matter, to the growing girl, so Grandpa steps in.

Grandparents have it easy. They can dote on a grandchild, spoil them rotten and pass along wise advice acquired by years of making their own mistakes at parenting. Charlie nicely fills all those roles and then some.
